With an online Italian course, you can just spend two to three hours in front of the computer, three to four times per week and in about eight weeks; you will have completed your basic Italian course.

Besides this, you are also able to take your courses right at home and even while you’re still in your pj’s – you can take your classes early in the morning or late in the evening. Fair warning though, you have to have the discipline to take your classes from start to finish.

If you would like a college level Italian course, the Allan Hancock College Distance Learning department provides Italian 101, otherwise known as Elementary Italian, online.

The college’s Italian 101 online course requires approximately 13.5 hours of online classes per week – that’s roughly about 3.5 hours per day, four times per week.

If you would like to shorten the days, you can lengthen the number of hours you spend on your lessons per day. The important thing is to complete 13.5 hours per week.

The course will take about eight weeks to complete. This means that in about two months or so, you will be more adept at speaking and reading in Italian.

The course focuses on proper pronunciation of the words, intonation, grammar and vocabulary. All of which will help you read, write and speak in Italian.

The course likewise gives you a closer look at Italian culture and heritage as there are lessons that include a bit of information about things Italian.

There are other online courses for Italian that you can also consider. Some of these online courses are actually free but they are more of a “free-flowing” kind of course; meaning the lessons are not structured.
